Bio:
Professor Harris brings a wealth of practical experience to the classroom. He was a litigation partner with the San Francisco office of Morrison & Foerster where he was involved with a number of high-profile cases, including the defense of John Walter Lindh, the American Taliban and the Raiders’ lawsuit against the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Professor Harris clerked for Judge Frank M. Coffin of the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals following graduation from law school, then began his legal practice with Altshuler & Berzon in San Francisco. He moved to Morrison & Foerster in 1987, becoming a partner in 1990. He was appointed to serve as associate counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel Lawrence Walsh in order to assist as trial counsel in the prosecution of former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger. In 1996, he left private practice to join the law faculty at the University of Utah, where he taught Trial Advocacy, Appellate Advocacy, Civil Procedure and Legal Ethics.In 2001, he returned to Morrison & Foerster until he joined the Pacific McGeorge faculty in 2004. Professor Harris’ articles have appeared in journals at numerous law schools.
